There are several methods of making charitable gifts to Duke School, each of which presents certain advantages, depending on the donor's personal circumstances. The following are several options for your consideration:
Gifts of Cash and Credit Cards:
Cash donations can be made by check, Visa or Mastercard. Please include the security code on the back of the card along with the expiration date. Click here to give now.
Electronic Bank Draft:
Dragon Fund gifts may be directly drafted from a donor’s bank account. Drafts may be one-time, monthly, or quarterly during the fiscal year ending June 30. Please call the Development Office to obtain the Electronic Bank Draft form.
With matching gifts you can sometimes double or even triple your gift! Many employers, such as Quintiles, IBM, Cisco Systems
, and Lenovo
, sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please contact your companies Personnel Director or Matching Gift Coordinator.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities:
A gift of appreciated stock (securities) may allow you to make a larger gift than you thought possible. If your securities have appreciated in value, you have the opportunity to avoid the capital gains tax that otherwise would apply to that appreciation if the securities were sold. You also may be eligible for an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities. With the tax savings, the “cost” of your gift to Duke School may be much less than the actual value of the gift you are able to make—which may make this form of giving all the more appealing.
Because security delivery instructions are dependent on the asset being gifted, how it is held, how it can be transferred, and the current federal, state, and local privacy statutes, please contact Russell Rabinowitz
, director of finance and operations, or Kenneth W. Chandler
, director of development, for transfer assistance and to advise us of any assets being transferred.
