Duke School children are inquisitive and resilient risk-takers and problem-solvers. They deserve a space to learn commensurate with their work and creativity. The Center for IDEAS will give them the freedom to explore and create while also giving them the platform to share our work through the Educators Institute and strategic programming that brings new voices to our school.
This project is essential in setting Duke School apart from its peers by supporting people, places, ideas, and programs that make it a special place to learn.
We need this building to further distinguish our program through a setting that matches the level of learning that happens at Duke School. In addition, this building is an opportunity for us to share what defines our school with the community around us, truly offering everyone a place to belong.
The Center for IDEAS will allow us to expand our best-in-class Educators Institute, which makes our school pedagogy accessible to more communities, codifies our teaching methodology, and uplifts our teachers as leaders in their field.
We will have a home for events open to the public and serve Duke School and non-Duke School families alike through programming that looks to make our school visible to all.
This school gave me so many incredible gifts- not only a life-long love of learning but critical skills I didn't even realize I was gaining until after I left campus. But, more than that, Duke School provided a place to be me and explore my passions fully. Now more than ever, children need a space like this, and I am so grateful Duke School still gives students this environment. I understand the power of a Duke School education, and I am excited to watch the school evolve to meet the needs of its students just like they did for me.
