Kathy Bartelmay has been a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and academically gifted teacher in public school and is currently the curriculum director at Duke School. She is a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops regarding reading and writing workshops and The Project Approach. In 2009, Kathy joined the Project Approach Teacher Education Network (PATEN), a group of educators who work alongside Lilian Katz and Sylvia Chard to offer consulting, support and workshops to teachers worldwide.
Jenny Murray has worked in Project Approach classrooms ranging from pre-school through seventh grade. In addition to her many years in the classroom, Jenny is an experienced staff developer and administrator. Her training includes work with the Project Approach Institute, The Buck Institute and High Tech High. Jenny is a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops, and as Duke School’s Middle School director, specializes in middle school curriculum and using project work as a means to help students meet rigorous curriculum standards and goals.
Katie Ree, Duke School's innovation director, is an educator, maker, designer, and artist. She has over 15 years of experience crafting innovative teaching and learning experiences in elementary and middle schools, including the founding and running of a Makers Club for the last five years. Her experience in educational technology and innovation includes chairing an international board on innovative learning technologies, working in an international school, as well as conference planning and presenting.
Maureen Costello Dwyer teaches preschool at Duke School. She is a member of the Project Approach Teacher Education Network (PATEN), was trained in The Project Approach by Lilian Katz and Sylvia Chard, and has presented on project work in a variety of settings. In addition to teaching preschoolers for over 20 years, Maureen has taught in early childhood and school-aged self-contained autism programs, served as an LD resource teacher, and has been a preschool program director. Maureen holds an A.B. in early childhood education, and an M.Ed. in special education and literacy studies, and she loves the excitement and synergy that develops among children as they explore project work together.
