Extracurriculars

We believe in providing opportunities for students to develop skills and interests in and outside of the classroom. With a variety of student activities, our Dragons are able to discover and explore areas they enjoy the most.

After school, Lower School students are able to explore a variety of Dragon Quests extracurriculars as an alternative to our After School Program. While some extracurricular activities and clubs that are held during the school day for middle schoolers, they also have an extended day opportunity offered after school in Prime Time. Middle schoolers may also join Duke School bands, choruses, performing arts (drama) production and/or our Athletics Program

Middle School Chorus & Performing Arts

At Duke School, we offer a number of performance opportunities for Middle School students including chorus and performing arts (drama). We also have an arrangement with a variety of local music teachers who give group and private lessons to a range of ages on our campus.

Performing Arts

Drama is open to students in grades 5-8. Auditions are held for the fall play and spring musical. Students may also be members of the crew.

The after school drama program produces two shows each school year with a play in the fall before Winter Break and a musical in the spring.

Students will audition and rehearse two to three days per week after school from 3:30-5:30 PM. We strive to include as many actors as possible as well as a crew, run by students for the performances.

Chorus

Chorus is open to students in grades 5-8. No prior musical experience is required.

Our chorus meets twice a week to build community, experience a wide variety of musical styles, and strengthen confidence in our vocal ability. We develop our song repertoire by building on the interests of our singers and we love to share what we have learned with the school and community at Winter and Spring Concerts.
