Parent Education Talk with Kelly Barber-Lester

Duke School will proudly host a virtual parent education talk by Kelly Barber-Lester on Thursday, May 13, from 6-7 PM! Mark your calendars to join us for Kelly's "Bringing it Home: Talking with your Kids About Race and Racial Justice" presentation.

Kelly Barber-Lester, PhD (she/her/hers) is an experienced k-12 teacher, teacher educator, mother, and scholar. She currently serves on faculty in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Education. Dr. Barber-Lester was drawn to the field of education out of anger and concern for the ways in which our educational systems in the United States are inequitable, an issue which continues to drive her work with pre-service and in-service teachers today. Through her teaching and research, she aims to advance understanding of issues of power, oppression, and social inequity and how those things intersect with systems of education and our work as teachers.
